Michael Douglas says he and Kathleen Turner were once secret lovers

Michael Douglas has said he and Kathleen Turner were once secret lovers during the making of Romancing the Stone, the 1984 adventure film in which they starred together with Danny DeVito.

In an excerpt from his memoir, Douglas says the attraction began on the set and that the two kept it hidden from Robert Zemeckis, the director, and the rest of the cast and crew.

Douglas describes the relationship as more than a brief fling. He says he and Turner were “friends,” then co-stars, then “lovers,” and that he would slip into her hotel room after filming in the jungle.

The romance ended when Diandra Luker, Douglas’s wife at the time, visited the set in Mexico with their son Cameron and confronted Turner. Douglas was married to Luker then, though he says they were separated and both were having extramarital affairs.
