Server logs
The server that hosts the site keeps ordinary logs, such as the page address, the time, the IP address, and the browser, so the site can run and abuse can be looked into. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process the same information and set cookies needed for security. Those logs are not sold.
Advertising
The site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure ads, and, where you allow it, to show ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites.
You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in My Ad Center, and opt out of some other vendors’ personalised ads at aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are asked for consent before cookies are used for personalised ads, and can change that choice later.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives information such as the pages you view, your browser, and your approximate location. The reports we see do not identify you. You can block it with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies
Besides the advertising, analytics, and security cookies above, the site sets none of its own for readers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, though ads may be less relevant.

Comments are closed on stories. If they are ever opened, this page will be updated first.
