Rain and strong winds forecast across northern India as weather shifts

The India Meteorological Department has forecast a change in weather across parts of India on Thursday, October 15, with rain and thunderstorms expected in several regions.

A western disturbance is affecting northern India. The forecast warns of rain, strong winds and possible hail in Delhi-NCR and other northern areas.

For Delhi, the department expects light rain in some places, with thunderstorms and lightning. Winds could reach 40–50 km/h in the afternoon and evening, with gusts up to 60 km/h.

Delhi’s forecast maximum temperature is 32–34°C, and its minimum is 19–21°C. The city was partly cloudy on Wednesday, with temperatures expected to dip further as the weather changes.

The heaviest rain warning is for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, where heavy to very heavy rain is possible. Parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka could also see heavy rain.

The monsoon is still withdrawing from India. On October 14, its withdrawal line ran through Dhubri, Kolkata, Angul, Khammam and Honnavar, while conditions were becoming favourable for further withdrawal.
