What’s happening with India Women vs Zimbabwe Women?
India Women are preparing to face Zimbabwe Women in a historic bilateral T20I series. The opener is set for Raipur, and the T20I match is still ahead.
The series will also include one-day internationals after the T20Is, giving India a multi-format start to its new leadership era.
Smriti Mandhana is now captain across formats after Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down. Shafali Verma is her deputy in T20Is.
Shafali said India wants to play fearless cricket while remaining smart in its decisions. She described the team’s focus as continuing to grow from series to series.
The approach is part of India’s preparation for the Women’s Champions Trophy, scheduled for February next year.
Shafali also said she has been bowling regularly for Haryana since 2021 and has been preparing for the possibility of bowling for India.
Deepti Sharma is vice-captain for the ODI leg. Shafali credited Harmanpreet with helping women’s cricket grow during her time as captain.
