India take the ODI series against West Indies in New Chandigarh

India have taken the ODI series against West Indies after the third match in New Chandigarh, at the PCA International Cricket Stadium, ended with the hosts on top. The scorecard shows India reaching 351/7 and West Indies finishing on 325/5, with 2.4 overs left in the chase when the match was still in progress on the scoreboard.

Shai Hope brought up a century during the West Indies reply, and the visitors stayed in the contest deep into the innings. India had earlier been pushed to a big total after KL Rahul’s century, and Mohammed Siraj gave them the first breakthrough in the chase.

Shubman Gill collected the trophy with mixed emotions and was named player of the series after scoring 334 runs across the ODI leg. He said India had ticked a lot of boxes, but also pointed to bowling issues after conceding 405 in Guwahati and failing to defend 351 in this game.

For West Indies, there were useful contributions from Justin Greaves, John Campbell and Amir Jangoo, while Jayden Seales stood out with the ball. The pace attack was expected to be the side’s main strength, but it did not make the same impact across the series.

The tour now moves on to five Twenty20 Internationals, with the first scheduled for Tuesday in Lucknow.
