Wales lose to Denmark in Cardiff after Danny Ward error

Wales lost 1-0 to Denmark at Cardiff City Stadium in the UEFA Nations League after a second-half mistake by Danny Ward set up the decisive penalty.

The Wrexham goalkeeper gave the ball away to Gustav Isaksen inside his own penalty area, then brought him down when he tried to recover. Former Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund converted the spot-kick in the 75th minute.

Ward had already made two good saves after the break, and Denmark had earlier missed chances through Isaksen and Oliver Provstgaard. Wales, coached by Craig Bellamy, struggled to match the intensity of their win over Norway earlier in the week.

The result completed a Denmark double over Wales after their 2-0 win in Copenhagen last weekend. Wales now sit third in Group 4, with November fixtures away to Norway and then at home to Portugal still to come.
