Tesla viser Roadster 2 som letter med rakettdyser
Tesla har vist fram neste generasjon Roadster på en demonstrasjon ved SpaceX-anlegget i Texas. Sportsbilen kjørte opp en buet rampe, lettet og landet igjen etter en vending i lufta.
Demonstrasjonen viste bilen kjøre opp rampen mens et sugesystem holdt den fast, også da den var opp ned. Deretter brukte den rakettdyser utviklet sammen med SpaceX til å snu seg i lufta og komme ned på bakken.
Elon Musk, Teslas sjef, kalte Roadster 2 en flygende bil. Han sa at den har høydestyring og dyser bak, og at den kan utføre bevegelser som saltoer.
En video fra arrangementet viste også bilen hoppe over en rekke Tesla-biler. Musk sa at demonstrasjonsbilen ble fjernstyrt for å unngå å sette noen i fare.
Musk hevdet at bilen kan akselerere fra null til 60 miles i timen på under ett sekund. Det er en påstand fra Tesla-sjefen; demonstrasjonen alene fastslår ikke hvordan bilen vil prestere i vanlig bruk.
Musk tok også forbehold om hvorvidt bilen vil være lovlig overalt. Han beskrev prototypen som ikke nødvendigvis sikkerhetsoptimalisert, og demonstrasjonen avklarte ikke hvordan Roadster 2 vil kunne brukes på offentlige veier.
Roadster 2 er Teslas nye elektriske sportsbil. Det som ble vist i Texas, var en prototype med rakettdyser, ikke en avklaring av når eller til hvilken pris bilen blir tilgjengelig.
