Tottenham beat Coventry 3-1 for first league win of the season

Tottenham Hotspur beat Coventry City 3-1 to claim their first Premier League win of the season and move off the bottom of the table. Spurs had been winless in their opening six games.

James Maddison opened the scoring with a curling shot into the top corner. It was his first competitive start for Tottenham since May 2025, and Coventry was the club where he began his professional career.

Coventry responded four minutes into the second half when Jack Rudoni scored the equaliser. The goal briefly checked the home crowd’s growing optimism.

Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham’s lead with a strike into the far corner. It was his first goal for the club, and he said the team was pleased to turn recent performances into a win.

Ben Davies added Tottenham’s third with an effort using the outside of his boot. His goal settled the result and helped Spurs secure the points.

Dejan Kulusevski returned from a lengthy spell out, coming off the bench in the 85th minute. His appearance added to the occasion for Tottenham supporters.

Coventry manager Frank Lampard said he was disappointed with the defeat but felt his side had played well in the first half. Coventry could not recover after Davies extended the lead.
