Samsung missar höga förväntningar trots rekordprognos
Samsung Electronics, den sydkoreanska elektronikjätten och världens största tillverkare av minneschip, räknar med ett rekordstort rörelseresultat under tredje kvartalet. Bolagets preliminära prognos pekar på 107,4 biljoner won, motsvarande omkring 79,9 miljarder dollar.
Försäljningen väntas uppgå till cirka 195 biljoner won, eller 145,1 miljarder dollar. Båda siffrorna är lägre än analytikernas förväntningar: 112,73 biljoner won i rörelseresultat och 205,26 biljoner won i försäljning.
Efterfrågan på minneschip till AI har drivit upp Samsungs försäljning och vinster. Men de höga förväntningarna gör att även en mycket stark prognos kan mötas med besvikelse när den inte når marknadens bedömningar.
Samsungaktien föll 2,4 procent i torsdagens handel på hemmamarknaden i Sydkorea efter att prognosen offentliggjorts.
Nedgången märktes också bland andra bolag inom minne och datalagring. Sandisk, SK Hynix och Seagate backade omkring 3 procent, medan Micron sjönk 2 procent.
Roundhill Memory ETF, en fond med inriktning på minnesbranschen, föll 3 procent. Flera av aktierna har tidigare gynnats av den snabba tillväxten i AI-relaterad efterfrågan.
Samsungs siffror är preliminära och gäller tredje kvartalet. De visar en kraftig verksamhet, men marknadens reaktion pekar på att investerarna hade räknat med ännu mer.
