RJ Mitte, ‘Breaking Bad’ actor, dies at 34

RJ Mitte, the actor who played Walter White Jr. on “Breaking Bad,” has died at 34 in Brownsville, Texas. His representative confirmed his death.

Brownsville police said the cause and manner of death have not been determined and the investigation is ongoing. Police said foul play was not suspected; an autopsy was to be performed.

Mitte became known for playing the son of Walter White, the central character in the AMC drama starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

Mitte lived with cerebral palsy and drew on his own experience for the role. He was diagnosed as a child.

His work on “Breaking Bad” earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2014. He also used his public profile to advocate for disability rights and greater inclusion.

Mitte served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and created The Mitte Foundation to support community and philanthropic projects.

In an interview recorded for The Joe Vulpis podcast on Oct. 5, Mitte spoke about drawing on life experience in his acting. “I live life to the fullest,” he said, adding that he had “a very finite amount of time.”
