Noni Madueke’s late goal gives Arsenal a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest

Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 away on Sunday, with Noni Madueke scoring the late goal that settled a tight Premier League match.

Forest kept Arsenal from finding a way through for most of the game. The visitors had not managed a shot on target in the first 70 minutes.

Madueke came on at half-time, replacing Eberechi Eze. Mikel Arteta later brought on Mikel Merino, Viktor Gyökeres and Jurrien Timber as Arsenal looked for a breakthrough.

The decisive moment came in the 80th minute. Madueke cut in from the left and drove a shot that deflected past Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.

The win was Arsenal’s sixth in seven league games. They stayed second in the table, three points behind leaders Manchester City.

Madueke had started only one Premier League game this season before the Forest match: Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Leeds. His goal came after another appearance from the bench.

Timber came on in the second half for his 100th Arsenal appearance, and the team kept a clean sheet. The win also came ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League trip to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
