APC figures back Tinubu’s reforms after Independence Day speech

All Progressives Congress figures and allied groups are using Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary to press support for President Bola Tinubu’s economic programme. They say the reforms should continue beyond 2027 and should not be abandoned before their effects are felt in households and businesses.

Tolu Bankole, a member of the APC National Working Committee, said the measures had imposed sacrifices but were needed to build lasting prosperity. He tied his comments to Tinubu’s Independence Day address, in which the president said Nigeria had corrected its course and was moving toward prosperity after three years of reforms.

In Abuja, Bankole welcomed Tinubu back from a working vacation abroad and called for renewed focus on turning policy into improvements in daily life. He pointed to signs he sees as encouraging, including real GDP growth, manufacturing gains, and a lower Monetary Policy Rate.

In Ondo State, the PBAT Mandate Elders Forum endorsed Tinubu for re-election in 2027. Its chairman, Chief Demola Ijabiyi, said the reforms were building a stronger base for investment, local production, and employment, while warning that reversing them would deepen poverty.

Other supporters also framed the speech as a test of patience. They urged Nigerians to back the reform drive, while calling on political, traditional, and religious leaders to keep the country peaceful as the debate over the economy continues.
