Paris FC and Arsenal share a 2-2 draw after late handball penalty

Arsenal left Paris with a 2-2 draw after a late penalty turned a two-goal lead into a point each in the Women’s Champions League.

Alessia Russo put Arsenal ahead, and Georgia Stanway added a second soon after the break. For much of the night, Renee Slegers’s side looked set to leave the French capital with a clean win.

Paris FC pulled one back through Clara Mateo on the counterattack, then levelled in the closing minutes. The equaliser came after Leah Williamson handled the ball near a goal-kick restart, and Maeline Mendy converted from the spot.

The result leaves Arsenal fourth in the Champions League table after two matches. With a victory in Paris, they would have moved up to second.
