Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 at Portman Road after Julio Enciso cancelled out Neco Williams’ first-half opener. Forest had more of the chances, but Ipswich held on through a late spell of pressure to take a point in their Premier League meeting.
Williams gave Forest the lead in the first half. Ipswich responded just before the break, when Enciso scored after a mistake by Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic. The equaliser changed the shape of the match, with neither side able to find a winner after the interval.
Forest finished with 17 shots to Ipswich’s seven and created chances valued at 2.31 expected goals, but their greater attacking volume produced only Williams’ goal. Ipswich defender Leif Davis twice cleared efforts off the line, helping his side stay level during the visitors’ strongest spells.
The match also turned on a disputed disciplinary decision. Ipswich’s Issa Diop was shown a yellow card for a tackle on James McAtee after referee Thomas Bramall reviewed it at the pitchside monitor. Forest manager Oliver Glasner said he believed the challenge merited a red card.
Liam Delap, playing against his former club, had an opportunity to put Ipswich ahead in the 74th minute but headed over. He later sent a powerful long-range effort narrowly wide. Forest’s Callum Hudson-Odoi also missed chances, including a late shot that went wide.
Forest’s evening ended with concern over Williams, who left with an arm injury and was replaced by Luca Netz. Ipswich substitute Jack Clarke also had a late attempt, but it went off target. The draw leaves Forest with one win from eight league games; they have scored six goals from chances worth 13.4 expected goals this season.
For Ipswich, the point adds to a home tally that now matches the seven points they collected at Portman Road across the entirety of their previous Premier League campaign in 2024-25. The result gives the club something to build on at home, while Forest will be left weighing missed chances and the injury to Williams.
