India defended 223 runs to beat West Indies by 14 runs in Indore, taking a 2-1 lead in their five-match T20I series. India and West Indies are the two national cricket teams contesting the series.

India were all out for 223. The total came at Holkar Stadium, a venue where earlier T20Is in the series had produced high-scoring games.

West Indies finished on 209 for seven in their chase. India held on to a target their bowlers had been unable to defend in the previous match.

Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for 44 runs and was named Player of the Match.

India changed their attack, bringing in seamer Prince Yadav and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy for Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube. The change added a seamer in place of a spinner.

The previous match in Ranchi had seen West Indies chase 252 with nine balls to spare, after India made 249 for five. India’s win in Indore put them ahead in the series.

Before this match, no side had defended a total in the T20I series. India’s bowlers managed it by keeping West Indies to 209 for seven.
