Heavy rain delays the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang

The Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia was delayed at the Sepang International Circuit after heavy rain and thunderstorms made the track too wet to start safely.

Cars were already on the grid when race control held the start. The safety car went out to check conditions, while drivers waited in the pit lane and marshals worked on standing water.

Fans stayed in place under the covered grandstand as the rain kept falling. One marshal drew attention on track while brushing water away, turning into a brief focal point before the racing could begin.

The race had been rescheduled to Malaysia after the Bahrain round was moved from Sakhir earlier in the year. Max Verstappen was on pole, with Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Antonelli behind him on the grid.
