Barcelona beat Real Betis 5-2 as Lamine Yamal takes centre stage

Barcelona beat Real Betis 5-2 at La Cartuja on Saturday in a LaLiga match, extending their league winning run to nine games.

Lamine Yamal was a key figure for Barcelona, curling in a solo goal. Rodri also scored for the visitors.

Real Betis fought back, and Abde Ezzalzouli’s goal made it 3-2. Barcelona went on to finish the match with a three-goal margin.

Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso had a goal ruled out after a VAR review found a handball in the earlier attacking move.

Tempers flared after Ezzalzouli’s goal. Yamal went to check on Barcelona teammate Fermín López, who had gone down after an earlier clash.

Betis goalkeeper Álvaro Valles intervened, and Yamal pushed him aside. Facundo Bernal then shoved Yamal, who shoved back; Bernal responded with two headbutts, the account of the incident said.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick substituted Yamal, who had already been booked. Raphinha urged him to leave the pitch quickly as the confrontation threatened to escalate.
