Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury set for December fight in Cardiff

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are scheduled to fight on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, in a heavyweight bout billed as a major all-British showdown. The fight has not yet taken place.

Joshua, a two-time heavyweight world champion, has said he will bring aggression from the opening round. He has also described himself as a counter-puncher with a boxing brain, saying he expects to adapt to what happens in the ring.

The bout is planned as the main event of a Ring show streamed on Netflix. It is being presented as a contest for the WBA “Super” heavyweight title, but there is uncertainty over whether that belt will be at stake.

Murat Gassiev, the heavyweight currently listed by the WBA as its champion, says he has not received clear information about the title’s status. He said he saw only the Ring Magazine belt at the fighters’ press conference and had no paperwork from the WBA.

That leaves a conflict between the announced vacant-title framing and Gassiev’s account that he does not know whether he still holds the WBA belt. The available details do not settle which title, if any, the fight will decide.

The fight is expected to be a one-off, with no rematch clause in the contract. Tyson Fury’s manager said a second bout was not contractually arranged, while Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn left open the possibility if the fight proves successful.

Both fighters face questions about what comes next if they lose. Fury’s team has also said a win could leave him looking toward another bout with Oleksandr Usyk.
